Frequently Asked Questions

Is the will really legally valid?

Yes! Our will meets all requirements of Israeli inheritance law. It includes all required clauses and is suitable for witnessed signature as required by law. For complex cases, we recommend also consulting with a lawyer.

How much does it cost?

You can start building your will completely free. You'll pay only when you want to download the final document - at a symbolic price of a few dozen shekels, compared to thousands at a lawyer.

What's the difference between a holographic will and a witnessed will?

A witnessed will is signed in the presence of two witnesses and is recommended for most people. A holographic will is written entirely in the testator's handwriting, without witnesses. Both types are valid, and our system can prepare both.

What happens to my personal information?

Your information is encrypted at the highest level and stored on secure servers. We don't share your data with any third party, and you can delete your account and information at any time.

Can I write my will in English in Israel?

Yes. I-Will's entire interface is in English. Your will is drafted in Hebrew (as required for witnessed wills) but you complete every step in English with clear explanations. No Hebrew knowledge needed.

Do I need a lawyer to make a valid will in Israel?

No. Israeli law does not require a lawyer to write a will. A witnessed will created independently — including via I-Will — is fully legally valid as long as it is signed before two qualified witnesses who are not beneficiaries.

How do I make a will legally binding in Israel?

After completing your will with I-Will, print it and sign it in front of two witnesses who are not beneficiaries. Both witnesses also sign. That's it — your will is legally binding under Israeli Inheritance Law 1965.

Can I update or change my will after creating it?

Yes. You can create a new will at any time — the most recent valid will supersedes all previous ones. With I-Will, updating your will costs the same as the original and takes about 15 minutes.

Does Israeli law apply to my overseas assets?

Typically, an Israeli will governs only your Israeli assets. Assets held abroad (property, bank accounts, investments) are generally governed by the laws of the country where they are held. For international estates, consult a specialist.

Is there inheritance tax in Israel?

No. Israel abolished inheritance tax in 1981. Your heirs will not pay tax on assets they inherit from you. However, they may face capital gains tax if they later sell inherited property such as real estate.
